Stones Return To Summit - Maidstone United vs. Three Brdiges

The 3G pitch which allowed the game to go ahead
Last Tuesday I braved the sub zero temperatures to take in Maidstone United vs. Three Bridges in the Ryman League Division One North. The match was able to go ahead due to the fact that Maidstone have an artificial pitch at their new Gallagher Stadium home. I'd seen Maidstone play at 'home' before when they played Tooting in the FA Cup a couple of seasons ago. In the three times I'd seen them play previously they had scored 15 times - including a 0-9 at Corinthian of the Kent League. I'd been to Three Bridge's Jubilee Fields while they were still in the Sussex County League.

The main stand just before kick off
Going on the league table alone this looked like a home banker. However, Three Bridges more than held their own in the first half. They had a great chance to take the lead when the lively Three Bridges striker was played through but he hit his effort against the keeper. Maidstone struggle to get going and they come closest from a corner. Three Bridges take the lead shortly before half time when the striker slots home to stun the large home crowd.

Home fans behind the goal
Maidstone get more in to the game at the start of the second half but Three Bridges still pose a threat with their lively front players. They fail to take their chances and Maidstone make them pay when they score a header from a corner to level the scores. Maidstone score two late goals to seize the three points which was slightly harsh on Three Bridges.

Dugout side of the ground
The closest station to the ground is Maidstone East which is a short walk from the ground. Trains here depart from Victoria on a regular basis and takes around an hour. Before the game I went to The Duke Of Malborough which was a bit of locals pub was more than friendly. The clubhouse is impressive which you'd expect and had Sky Sports.
