Final Game - Brighton And Hove Albion vs. Bognor Regis Town

For my final game of this season, I headed once again to Sussex for a cup final. This time it was the Sussex Senior Cup Final between Brighton And Hove Albion's development side and Bognor Regis Town at the impressive Amex Stadium. Brighton's first team had earlier in the week lost to bitter rivals Crystal Palace in The Championship play offs and this was a chance for the younger players of the club to claim some silverware. Bognor had finished in mid table and a large number of fans had made the trip along the coast to see their side in the final.

The only open stand on the day
The young Brighton team take an early lead. A brilliant diagonal ball is controlled by the player out wide who is able to cut inside and fire home. They have another chance from distance but this the ball goes harmlessly wide. They have a further chance from a free kick but the ball goes just over. Bognor are gifted a chance to pull level when they are awarded a penalty but the ball is put well wide. Soon afterwards the Brighton keeper makes his first save of the game to tip over a looping header.  From this point onwards Brighton dominate and score four further goals. Bognor come close with a free kick but this is the only save the Brighton keeper makes in the second half. However, Bognor certainly did there large, noisy following proud.

Kick off at the Amex
Falmer Station is next door to the Amex Stadium and there is a walk way direct to the stadium from the station. There are no direct trains from London to Falmer and the quickest route is to change at Brighton. There are several pubs in close proximity to Brighton Station but I should imagine these would be rammed for league games and some maybe for home fans only. They show Sky Sports in the areas around the bar and food kiosks.

A fantastic full colour programme was produced for the final. There was lots of coverage for both teams and there was a lot of information on the history of the cup itself.
