United Fail To Break Their Duck - Worthing United vs. Pagham

The Robert Albon Memorial Ground
For my first Sussex County League game of the year I headed to The Robert Albon Memorial Ground for the match between Worthing United and Pagham. I been to Worthing previously for a game between Worthing and Fleet Town in the Ryman League a couple of years ago. Worthing United aren't having the best of seasons and a are yet to win a game this season following promotion the previous season. Pagham were in mid table and they won a seven goal thriller in the reverse fixture in August.

Moments before kick off
The Worthing keeper has an early save to make as Pagham have the first chance early on in the first half. The home side soon have a chance of their own but the effort goes over the bar and high in to the netting behind the goal. The match erupts in to life in the final few moments of the first half. The home side give away a free kick and shortly after the ball is put in to the box they concede a penalty and are reduced to ten men. The penalty is converted to put the visitors one up at half time. Pagham dominate the second half against the ten men and they add two further goals despite the home side's spirited efforts.

Worthing attack in the first half
The Robert Albon Memorial Ground is quite a distance from Worthing Station. The 7 / 7A bus departs half hourly from outside the station to Sainsbury's and the ground is a five minute walk from here. The journey takes just under ten minutes. Direct trains to Worthing depart from Victoria every half hour and the journey takes about an hour and twenty minutes. In the town centre before the game I went to The Vinters Parrot purley for the name but it turned out to be half decent. The club house at the ground is quite cosy and had a TV with final score on it.

The programme was quite basic as I believe the club are in the progress of looking for a new editor (please correct me if I'm wrong). There was a good history of the visitors and an update to date league which somehow seems to elude to some other programmes.
