Steam over the stand at Imber Court |
This Wednesday I made my third visit to Imber Court to see the Surrey Senior Cup third round tie between Metropolitan Police and Egham Town. My first visit to Imber Court was to see the London Senior Final between Tooting and Mitcham and Hendon and the second time was to see a pre season friendly between Met Police and Kingstonian. This was the Met's fifteenth cup game of the season which included an FA Cup first round match against League One side Crawley. With Egham sitting high in the Combined Counties Premier Division, there was the potential of a shock.

The shock unfortunately failed to materialise. After holding out for a while and having a couple of decent breaks the visitors are undone by a soft goal when the keeper fails to hold on to a fierce shot and the ball is slotted home. The home side double their lead with another soft goal. A corner from the left takes a lucky nick and the ball flies in to the net to put the hosts two up at the break. Egham try to get back in to the game at the start of the second and come close on several occasions but soon fall further behind. The Met winger gets a ball across and despite the defenders best efforts the ball ends up in the back of the net. Egham try for a consolation but the Met hold firm to win 3-0.

The closest station to Imber Court is Thames Ditton which is served by trains from Waterloo. The journey takes around half hour and the walk about ten minutes. Esher station is also about a fifteen minute walk away. Thames Ditton town centre is in the opposite direction to the ground and at the very bottom of the High Street is
The George And The Dragon which was very warm and had a couple of ales on. The clubhouse is also the clubhouse of the general Met Police Sports clubhouse and as expected is quite well maintained.
The club produced a basic program for the game. It had a general introduction with forthcoming fixtures and had the results of the season so far.
