The main stand at The Broadfield Stadium |
I normally enjoy my trips to Sussex to watch football, but the game I went to watch this Saturday was anything but enjoyable. Scunthorpe were comprehensively beaten by newly promoted Crawley on a baking hot afternoon. As poor as Scunthorpe were I have to acknowledge how brilliant the two centre midfielders for Crawley (Hope Akpan and Nicky Adams) were as they dominated the midfield from start to finish. As for Scunthorpe, it was the same old problem of the midfield being over run and the back four being exposed. They did play some neat stuff at times but the home keeper didn't have a save to make the entire game. It could be a long season.

The away end. |
The Broadfield Stadium is about a half hour walk from Crawley station. Trains to Crawley depart from Victoria on a regular basis and the journey takes about three quarters of an hour. After the game we drowned our sorrows in
The Railway which is unsurprisingly a short walk station. I didn't get there early enough to try the bar at the ground but my mates did and they said it was fairly decent.
