Pre- Challenge Cup Special - Hendon vs. Billericay (At Wembley FC)

As I'm heading to Wembley for the Challenge Cup Final, I thought I'd feature Wembley FC's Vale Farm ground. It was early last season when I headed to North London for Hendon's home game against Billericay in the Ryman Premier League. Hendon had to unfortunately had to leave their fantastic Claremont Ground at the end of the previous season and now ground share with Wembley FC of the Combined Counties League.

The ground is quite similar to other Combined Counties grounds in having one stand of seating and several other areas of covered standing scattered around the ground. The main stand is of a decent size and streches along one side of the pitch.

The main stand
Billericay dominated from the off and backed by a decent following for a Tuesday night match. Despite this the Hendon goalkeeper keeps the score at 0-0 at half time. Hendon come in to the game more in the second half and force the Billericay goalkeeper in to a few saves. As is so often the case, Billericay end up regretting not taking their chances as Hendon snatch a winner in the last minute. And is often the case for football fans I missed the only goal of the game as I was in the toilet!

Covered standing in one corner of the ground.
The nearest station is North Wembley Station on the Bakerloo line. The station is about 40 minutes walk or you can get the 245 bus from outside the station to Butlers Green which is a very short walk from the ground. Alternatively, you could get an overground train to Sudbury and Harrow station. Again this is a 20 minute walk or a short bus ride to the ground. The clubhouse is friendly and is a decent size.

Non covered standing behind one goal.
