A Very Long Fixture - Mauritihus Sports Association UK vs. Sawbridgeworth Town

The moon above Wadham Lodge.
After seeing MSA in the FA Vase at Hertford, I decided to visit their home ground at Wadham Lodge for their Essex Senior League fixture against Sawbridgeworth Town. MSA are in the top half of the table while Sawbridgeworth have had a poor start to the season. Wadham Lodge is currently undergoing a lot of development as owners Waltham Forest aim to end their ground sharing with Ilford.

The game starts very quickly and the away side make most of the early running. They hit the bar from a free kick and the goal keeper makes a few decent saves. MSA, as they did at Hertford, play some decent football but look a little too lightweight up front. Sawbridgeworth take the lead when the winger breaks through and despite the goalkeeper getting a lot on the ball the ball hits the back of the net. The home side rally slightly but still go in one down. The second half is much of the same but Sawbridgeworth fail to add to their solitary goal but manage to hold on despite MSA hitting the woodwork twice.

There is currently no bar at the ground due to redevelopment. There is the Dog and Duck pub on Chingford Road, just after the turning for the ground. There are also several pubs on the walk from Walthamstow Central station, which takes around 25 minutes. This is the nearest station to the ground is a 15 minutes ride from Central London. from here you get the 97, 215 or 357 and this takes about five minutes.
