An Aylesbury Corner, As Storm Clouds Gather. |
For my first FA Trophy game of the season, I headed to Stag Meadow for Windsor and Eaton's home tie against Aylesbury. Both teams have play off aspirations in their respective leagues and as Windsor are a level above their opponents, it has the potential to be a decent cup tie. This is Aylesbury's first season in the FA Trophy following their Spartan South Midlands Championship winning season. The home side need a decent cup run to help alleviate their tax problems.

A Windsor Corner Is Delivered In Front Of The Home Faithful.
|
Windsor attack their visitors from the off and create most of the early chances. The Aylesbury goalkeeper makes a terrific save when he somehow tips over a header from inside the six yard box. However, he can only keep the home side out for so long. They takes the lead when the winger cuts inside and fires in to the far top corner. Even then the goalkeeper gets a hand to it. Aylesbury are restricted to efforts from corners and Windsor go in one nil up.

The Players Head Back To The Half Way Line Following The Opening Goal.
|
|
The away manager has obviously had harsh words at half time as Aylesbury push on immediately after half time. They forge a few half chances as Windsor appear to think that the game has already been won. Aylesbury get the deserved equaliser when a header is flicked in to the net at the near post. The game is now a lot more open and very end to end. Both sides have decent chances to win the tie but the game goes to a reply as both sides fail to find the net again.

The Main Stand At Stag Meadow. |
As with a lot of the places I've visited there is a lot to see in Windsor. There is the castle and boat trips along the Thames. There are plenty of pubs although it is advisable to move away from the castle as some of the prices are higher then in central London! There are several along the walk to the ground, which takes around 30 minutes. The clubhouse is a decent size but does not have sky sports. There are two stations in Windsor and both are around the same distance to the ground. Trains to Riverside depart from Waterloo and take around an hour. There are no direct trains from London to Central. If you wish to travel to the Central station you have to travel via Slough from Paddington.
