Very decent crowd for a legends game |
On FA Cup Final Saturday there was still a sprinkling of games and the one o'clock kick for Clapton vs. Clapton Legends meant that I would be back well in time for kick off. I'm glad I did opt for this game as it is more than likely it will be the last game for Clapton at The Stray Dog as they move on to the main pitch at Walthamstow. Clapton won The Middlesex Counties League Division One the previous weekend in their first season since formation.

Just after kick off at my last new ground of the season |
The legends side win comfortably and the game is played in a good spirit and there are some decent to entertain the vocal ultras.

Clapton on the attack in the first half |
To get to The Stray Dog / Walthamstow FC you need to travel to the end of the Victoria Line and take one of the 34, 97, 215 or 357 to very close to the ground. A short walk away is
The Bell which I've never actually been in but looks decent. If you've got a bit more time before or after the game it is worth exploring Walthamstow Village which has a great selection of pubs and breweries. I didn't try the bar in the main building but there were cans of larger available by the entrance and I hope it is this kind of thing they maintain if they advance through the leagues. The Indian food next to the can tent was exceptional and lined the stomach nicely. A really great Saturday that I'm sure will be the same at the new 'home' ground.
