Bexhill Earn Comeback Victory - Bexhill United vs. Littlehampton Town

The weather forecast for the weekend had suggested that it was going to quite sunny and so I decided to head to the coast for a game. I had intended to watch Eastbourne United but after this game was moved I went for the match between Bexhill United and Littlehampton Town. The main appeal of the ground is the impressive grandstand which has been in existence since the formation of the club. Both sides were having decent seasons with Bexhill seventh and Littlehampton in fourth place. The reverse fixture at The Sportsfield ended in a six nil win for Littlehampton earlier this year.

Bexhill are on top from the off with their number 10 causing no end of problems for the visitor's defence. He has the first real effort on goal when he heads the ball just over the crossbar. The Littlehampton keeper makes a few further saves to keep the scores level. In the latter part of the half, the home keeper makes a brilliant save from close range. The game is also quite scrappy and there are a few heavy challenges. At the end of the half, Bexhill are well on top but the scores are level at half time.

At the start of the second half, Bexhill again go on the attack and the visiting keeper makes a few more saves. Bexhill are made to regret those missed chances when Littlehampton take the lead. The ball is allowed to go across the area and the Littlehampton player scores with an angled drive. Bexhill really press after this and are rewarded with an equaliser. The Littlehampton keeper again makes a great save but he can do nothing to stop the rebound being smashed in to the net. The away side hit the bar soon after but it is the home side who would find the winner. The Bexhill player is sent through and he slots his effort past the keeper. Bexhill have a couple of one on one chances in the final moments but the score remains at 2-1.

The closest station to the ground is actually Collington but to take in the sea front I went to Bexhill station. This journey takes the best part two hours from London Victoria and you have to change at Hampden Park. The walk from Bexhill takes about twenty minutes. The clubhouse is a decent size and has Sky Sports. While I was waiting for my return train I had a drink at The Royal Sovereign which is just opposite the station. Also a short distance from the station is Louis' Fish Bar which does brilliant fish and chips. This is one of my favourite grounds is defiantly worth a visit.
