Canvey Island First Contact - Canvey Island vs Tooting And Mitcham United

Impressive sky over Park Lane
In the previous post, I stated that my visit to Concord Rangers was my second ever visit to Canvey Island. The first visit was to see Tooting and Mitcham play Canvey Island in the 2008 - 2009 season. At this stage of the season, Tooting were finding their feet in the Premier Division following victory in the play off final the previous season.

Covered standing down one side of the pitch.
The main thing I remember about the game is that I don't think I've ever been colder at a football game. With regards to the game itself, Tooting took an early lead through a curling effort from the edge of the box. That was as good as it got for Tooting as Canvey scored three goals without reply. I think Tooting tried to get back in to the game but they had little success.

I was given a lift to and from the ground and so I'm not sure which buses go to the ground, but I think as with Concord Rangers quite a few go past the ground. On the bus to Thames Road last week there were several Hendon fans travelling to the ground. We arrived a little late to the ground and so I didn't get a chance to sample the clubhouse and I missed out on a programme!.

The main stand.
