A Very Angry Post

Impressive view from the away end.
I did visit a new ground this weekend but the less said about Scunthorpe's pathetic performance against Leeds the better. All I will say is that I acknowledge that Leeds are a bigger side with bigger resources etc, but for the sake of the fans who paid the money and made the journey but some effort in and show a bit of fight. I also have to say that Elland Road is a fantastic ground and the atmosphere is brilliant. The noise will be deafening  when they host Arsenal on Tuesday night.

The main stand at Leyton FC.
While there is still hope for the Iron this season, the future looks a lot bleaker for Leyton. The second oldest club in London (after Cray Wanderers) withdrew from the Ryman League Division One North due to financial problems. It is quite frankly sickening that clubs like Manchester City can run up debts of 194 million but clubs which are the grass roots of the game and provide youngsters with a chance to play football are allowed to rot and go bust.

The view from the main stand.
I've seen Concord Rangers several times and this was the only time where a team has made them look ordinary. Every other time I'm seen them, they pull teams apart with their fantastic attacking football. I can't remember a lot about the game but Leyton had a lot of good chances and they in fact missed a penalty in the last minute of normal time and hit the post in injury time.

Covered standing down one side of the pitch.
Hopefully someone can come in and save the club and they can start again in the Essex League. It says on the website that the under eighteen side will continue to run and these players may provide the foundation for the new club. There is of course some irony as I started the article commenting about Leeds United. They of course went to the brink due to excessive spending but survived.
