Goal Fest At Gaywood Park - Kings Langly vs. Sun Postal Sports

Set back view of the pitch.
With the Christmas party season fast approaching I was keen to catch a mid week game. After trawling through the fixtures I elected to watch Kings Langley's Spartan South Midlands Division One game with Sun Postal Sports. Kings Langley had already beaten Sun Postal at home already this season in the league cup. I'd seen Sun Postal earlier in the season when they lost to Cockfosters and not many things have gone right for them since. They sat at the bottom of the league with just three wins and having conceded 94 goals already. Kings Langley had finished second the previous season but were denied promotion as their ground was not ready.

The game gets off to a frantic and unpredictable start. Sun Postal opening the scoring within five minutes and they double their lead with an effort from just out the box. This prompts a thumping comeback from the hosts, who score five unanswered goals. A lot of them being scored by someone at the back post following a cross from the opposite flank. The Sports defence can't get organised and it looks like Kings Langley can almost score at will. Sun Postal get another just before half time to make it 5-3 at half time.

The second Sun Postal Sports goal hits the back of the net.
Kings Langley slow the pace of the game down and dominate possession at the start of the second half and unfortunately Sun Postal never look like getting level. Kings Langley have a lot of the ball in Sun Postal's half but seem to suffer the problem that once blighted Arsenal as they look to walk the ball in. They do get a sixth and have another ruled out for offside.Sun Postal score the tenth and final goal of the evening in the closing stages. The visitors have the unwanted accolade of  conceding a hundred goals before Christmas. It looks like they have the players to do better but are very short of confidence.

A Kings Langley chance in the second half.
The closest station to the ground is Apsley which is a twenty minute walk away. Trains depart from Euston every half hour and the journey takes twenty five minutes. The Paper Mill is located a very short walk from the station and is located on the marina. It is a Fullers pub and the food looked very tasty. I passed another couple of pubs on the way to the ground. The clubhouse is a decent size and they unfortunately had the TV stolen in recent weeks. I fully recommend having a sausage butty from the tea window!.
